How to increase low season occupancy rates

Low Season Occupancy

Every resort owner knows that there are constant ebbs and flows in the holiday industry, as the seasons change and the cooler weather returns it brings high vacancy rates with it. So it’s important that every resort owner knows what they can do to increase their low season occupancy rates. Here are our tips!

Reward Loyal Customers:

Rewarding your loyal and repeat customers is a great way to decrease vacancies during low occupancy seasons. As a resort owner/manager you should not only be focusing on attracting new guests but maintaining your loyal customers!

Your loyal customers are one of your best marketing assets so it’s always worth rewarding them with great guest experiences each time they stay at your resort. Ensuring that you continuously reward your loyal customers ensures that they’ll promote your business and provide you with more new bookings.

We’d recommend utilising this strategy during peak season, to attract the most guests for their next stay.

Implement seasonal deals:

Everyone loves a good bargain on their holiday including your resort guests! Discounted stays during your low occupancy season is a great tactic for decreasing vacancies.

Attract more travellers and even locals during your low occupancy seasons by providing discounts. Travellers are always searching for ways to get more bang for their buck, especially in the low season. So, providing discounted rates that are effective and clear can really increase your bookings.

We’d recommend encouraging your guests to stay longer as they add in their dates. We’d also suggest discounts on group bookings to encourage families and business groups to stay at your resort.

Organise events:

Events are a consistent way to increase revenue for resorts during low occupancy seasons. Unlike the holiday season, events are something that consistently occur year round making them a reliable way to increase occupancy by up-selling extra services to attendees.

Always keep an eye out for local events such as gigs, parties and comedy events that could be happening in the area. These are likely to attract guests from fat and wide, which means they are more likely to need a place to stay at your resort if you up-sell effectively.

Update your furniture:

Low occupancy isn’t always a bad thing! The low seasons give you time to update and prepare your resort for the next influx of guests. What better way to spend your down time than updating the furniture around your resort? Here at Daydream, we can keep your outdoor area looking cohesive and stylish all year around! If you’re looking to invest some time in updating and maintaining your resort furniture this low season, contact our wholesale team via our website or on 5493 4277.

How to bring your backyard to life

bring-your-backyard-to-life

Every home needs a great outdoor living space. It’s within these spaces that moments are turned into memories, spending sunny days with the family or long summer nights with friends. Whether big or small, every outdoor area can be transformed into a private oasis, follow these simple tips to bring your backyard to life!

Think outside the pot

Don’t limit yourself to a few random pots and some chairs – get creative and allow your inner designer to come out and play. It doesn’t have to be complicated to be classy. Start simple with greenery, and better yet, natives!

Bring your backyard to life with natives

Australia is home to a range of beautiful flowering plants, trees and scrubs. Here are 3 reasons why you should invest in natives for your outdoor area.

  1. Natives are easy to grow, resilient and can support themselves in the challenging Australian climate.
  2. Natives support a healthy environment. Unlike introduced species of plants, Aussie natives require less fertilisers and pesticides. This in turn decreases the amount of chemicals absorbed in the soil, water and surrounding environment.
  3. They saving you time and money! These low maintenance beauties require less attention than other plants.

So if you want to create a space that is beautiful, low-maintenance and will bring wildlife to your backyard, consider investing in some natives for your outdoor spaces. This simple investment is not only great for the environment but will help bring your backyard to life!

Throw some shade

As we all know, Aussie summers always bring the heat, so don’t forget to throw some shade in your outdoor area. It’s important to remember sun safety so a simple umbrella, like the Timber Freestanding Centrepost, can help beat the heat, provide some well-needed shade, while also adding a neutral tone to complement the lush natives and greenery.

Pop some colour into your backyard!

Let your artistic flair shine by adding a pop of colour to the outdoor space. It could be as simple as bright pot plants or some cosy cushions. A pop of colour can help break up the neutral tones of your outdoor setting while showcasing your personality. You can keep it simple yet classy with throw cushions or soft furnishing decor.

Hostess with the mostest

If your house is the hot spot for family dinners or gatherings with friends, make sure your space can accommodate your loved ones! Beautiful outdoor dining tables and chairs can make or break a space. Whether it be a set or a simple table with mismatched chairs, you’ll be the talk of the table with your stunning layout.

One of the blessings of living in Australia is the many days of wonderful weather that we get. Investing a little effort into your outdoor space means more time to soak up that glorious Aussie weather with friends and family.

The Restaurant Furniture Buying Guide: Table Options

restaurant-tables-furniture-nardi

When you start a cafe or restaurant, or are simply looking to give an existing one a refresh, the furniture you choose can dictate the look, feel, comfort, and functionality of the space. Not only do you have all of this to consider, you always have to buy with durability and cost in mind; it’s the perfect balancing act. On top of this, you’ll need tables, chairs, accessories, and decor which all fit your space, aesthetic, and budget.

To help you find the right restaurant furniture, we thought we would break down some of the different materials on offer, and why they may or may not suit your business needs. To keep things short and sweet, we will start with tables. You can read up on other other aspects of cafe and restaurant furniture in the coming weeks, so keep an eye on our blog.

As you consider different table materials and options, make sure you keep these 5 tips in mind:

  1. The space and aesthetic of the environment that the furniture will go in.
  2. The maintenance requirements of the material.
  3. Is it dual purchase and/or suitable for both inside and outside environments?
  4. The ideal customer and what they look for.
  5. Make sure everything is commercial grade and comes with a warranty.

Let’s start with the table top.

Commercial Table Tops

When it comes to table tops, there’s lot of options on offer. Your choice of top can significantly alter the look and feel of the space, so it’s best to think about the overall feel before choosing your table.

Aluminum

The most popular and practical choice for outdoor and fast food restaurants, aluminium tables are lightweight, cost effective and really easy to clean.

Solid Wood

For indoor, fine dining and exclusive club settings, wood is a widely chosen table top option. It offers stylish looks, warmth and quality, however it also requires a much higher level of cleaning and maintenance in order to stay in good shape.

Veneer

For the perks of wood without the rigorous cleaning? Veneer is your best option!

It’s affordable, isn’t prone to warping or splitting like wood and is also more environmentally friendly.

Laminate

If you want to avoid wood and aluminium, laminate is another good option. With antibacterial and flame resistant properties, they are a great choice for restaurant tables which attract a lot of traffic.

Got your table tops chosen? Let’s discuss the table base.

Your shape and style of table top will obviously come into play when deciding on the base, however it always pays to understand all the options available to you so you can make the best decision.

Commercial Table Bases.

The two things to consider when choosing a table base is style, material, and functionality. Will the tables be moved around a lot, for example for functions? This can impact the weight of the tables. Will they be used inside and outside? Depending on the weather where you’re located, this can limit the material you’ll need.

Table bases come in several forms:

X-style base

This cross style top is better suited to square tables. These are often chosen as they offer functionality around multiple table settings, and larger groups.

Disc style base

A circular ‘disc style’ base is most commonly used for round tables, for obvious reasons. Depending on the size of the table, this could limit the amount chairs can be pushed in which can impact the seating arrangement and capacity.

Extended style base

If you’d like extended or rectangular tables in your cafe or restaurant, you can utilise the support of an extended style table base.

Once you’ve decided on your table base structure, you’ll have the options of 3 main types of material, being cast iron, aluminium, and stainless steel. Aluminium is the most popular due to its affordability, anti-rust qualities and lightweight frame. Cast Iron and stainless steel are both heavy and very sturdy, making them harder to move around when needed. Stainless steel also has a price tag which is typically 2-4 times that of aluminium, for a similar look and feel, which leaves it often overlooked.

The all in one solution: the Nardi Outdoor range

Another option, which is becoming more and more popular due to its durability, stylish looks, and affordable price, is the wide range of Nardi Outdoor furniture

The Nardi product range centred around high-quality polypropylene, a thermoplastic resin, due to its functionality, flexural strength and aesthetic. How the Nardi furniture range is a game-changer in outdoor furnishing

nardi-outdoor-furniture

The Nardi outdoor name is growing in popularity across Australia and the world. Why? Because it’s affordable, long-lasting, and oozes Italian style. The Nardi brand started in 1990 in Vicenza Italy, and after 29 years, the company is still distinguishing itself with high-quality materials and innovative designs that complement any space.

The Nardi product range centred around high-quality polypropylene, a thermoplastic resin, due to its functionality, flexural strength and aesthetic. The product range covers a wide range of residential and commercial furniture needs, including dining furniture, garden settings, poolside lounges and a vast range of outdoor tables and chairs.

At Daydream Leisure Furniture, we stock an enormous range of outdoor furniture and accessories, including a high-quality range designed by us (you can read more about that here). And while the Nardi range is just one of our brands on offer, we think it deserves a shout-out as it’s the perfect blend of European style, functionality, and price.

There are many reasons why Nardi Outdoor is growing in popularity and changing the game in the outdoor (and indoor) furniture industry, and here’s just a few of them..

Daydream Leisure Furniture

Collections to suit any taste or style

From bright blues and reds to subtle tan and blacks, you will find a colour that suits your area perfectly. Better still? The resin colours last forever, meaning after a summer of sun and a winter of rain and wind, your chairs will be vibrant and ready to handle the next entertainment season. One of our favourite things about Nardi? That you can mix and match the colours and make your setting pop.

Nardi products are easy to clean & store

Thanks to its waterproof make, you can simply hose off the furniture and wipe them dry. Especially important for commercial areas, you need furniture that’s really easy to maintain and sturdy enough to handle both light and thorough cleaning. The functional design also makes stacking the Nardi chair range a breeze. Need to clear a space between seasons, or the daily pack-up of a cafe? Nardi is the perfect solution. Everything comes partly assembled and/or is stackable, making it both easy to transport and put together.

It’s cost-effective

Considering the sturdy, long-lasting materials and smart designs, you would expect Nardi to have an expensive price tag attached; but it’s not the case. Nardi is affordable and comes in a mix and match format, so you can get precisely what you need for your space. Extendable tables? Check. Adjustable heights? Check.

It’s tough and mould resistant

Although the Nardi range is both lightweight and flexible, the resin material is very tough, unlikely to shatter and will take significant damage before breaking. Nardi furniture withstands sun rays, humidity and saline environments; it’s extremely long-lasting. You can leave your furniture exposed to sunlight and water: Nardi’s resin loves them! Nardi’s top-quality resin is batch-dyed and anti-UV treated, meaning the product colours will remain perfectly bright and full, even if they are exposed to outdoor and saline environments for long periods.

Nardi’s material doesn’t absorb water like other plastics and materials, making it perfect for an outside year season after season. Thanks to its water resistance, it won’t mould or otherwise deteriorate in the presence of bacteria, mould or other elements.

Daydream Leisure Furniture

It comes with a 2-year warranty

You can rest assured that all Nardi products have a 2 Year Manufacturing Warranty for defects in materials made during production. This Manufacturing Warranty covers the replacement or repair of any product that has a defect caused by the manufacturing process, that is not the result of normal wear and tear, or a natural characteristic of the material used.

Last but not least, (and a huge game changer in our opinion)..

Nardi products are 100% RECYCLABLE

Nardi ‘greenly’ manufacturers in the small town of Chiampo, Italy. Nardi uses advanced air injection moulding, which is a clean technology and produces zero emissions into the environment. This method consists of an injection of inert gas together with the plastic mass into the mould, creating a vacuum inside the plastic section. This tactic allows for less material use, making the product lighter while avoiding the formation of sink marks on the surface. 100% recyclable and ecologic, resin furniture can have a second life and become something totally different.

Ready to update your outdoor area? Make sure you consider Nardi. Perfect for indoor and outdoor entertaining, as well as a relaxing poolside retreat; you can’t go past the cost-effective, long-lasting, and stylish range they offer.
