Five Benefits of a stay-cation: Why you should holiday here this year!

Are you itching to get out of town? With restrictions finally lifting across Australia, it seems possible to plan a little getaway for yourself, your partner, your family or friends. And while you might want to get as far away as possible, we wanted to highlight the endless benefits of staying closer to home.

You still have a holiday.

Having a getaway close to home doesn’t make it any less of a holiday. Live in Noosa? Head inland to a mountainside cabin in Maleny. Live in Caloundra? Swap Bulcock beach for the boutiques and style of Hastings street. We have so much diversity on the Sunshine Coast that you don’t have to travel far to change your surroundings and relax completely!

There’s less travel time.

As we mentioned above, a stay-cation has the added benefit of reduced travel time. You can pack up your gear, throw it in the car with your friends or loved ones and be at your holiday spot in under an hour or two. Perfect!

You’re supporting local business.

Now more than ever, we are all aware of the importance of supporting our local community. A stay-cation is a fantastic way to do this. You can support local accommodations, restaurants, shopping boutiques and more by spending your downtime in our local area. Much like buying souvenirs on holiday, you can source local goods for birthday and Christmas presents. People love locally sourced gifts much more than snowglobes from some destination, and the quality is vastly improved. Hey, maybe you could even try a cooking or pottery class in the area!

Here’s just a few of our favourite resorts, cafes, and secret spots in the area…

Noosa Blue Resort: Hands down these guys have the most amazing rooftop apartments to enjoy some bubbly, watch the sunset and relax in your private rooftop spa. Is there anywhere else you’d want to be?!

Netanya Noosa: Featuring their luxurious beachfront apartments, and surrounded by the best of Noosa cafes, restaurants, bars, and boutique shopping; Netanya Noosa is the perfect ‘holiday’ getaway. Our tip: Take advantage of their Bed & Breakfast or Romance & Relaxation packages for that extra special treatment!

For something a little different, we whole-heartedly recommend a visit (and stay) at Habitat Noosa’s Everglades EcoCamp. Having undergone a recent revitalisation, the EcoCamp now offers onsite cabin, camping, motorhome and glamping accommodation, along with renovated amenities, activities, and even an onsite artisanal Brewery!

It will save you money.

Yet another benefit of a local stay-cation is the money you get to keep in your pocket! Holidays are generally a money-draining affair. Staying locally means you’re saving on airfares, visas, insurance, etc. and also allows more of your family or friends to join in the fun. The convenience of travelling locally also allows you to take mini getaways more often, and have the budget to do so! If you want to keep your stay-cation extra frugal, you can always take your own food or go camping; there are so many options for a stay-cation that you wouldn’t have with overseas travel!

Exploring your own backyard

Lastly, a stay-cation gives you the best opportunity to explore the region you live in, or those surrounding it! From Noosa to the Maleny Hinterland, down to the stunning GlassHouse Mountains; there’s a lot of exploring to be done across the Sunshine Coast. You can explore waterfalls and rock pools, such as the stunning Gardener Falls, take a sunrise stroll (or scramble) up one of the Glass House Mountains, or explore the lush Noosa Everglades by kayak or boat.

Here at Daydream Furniture, we love all things fun, furniture, exploring, entertaining, and most importantly, supporting our local Sunshine Coast community! So let’s stay and support local this holiday season, and explore our own backyard to its fullest!

While you are exploring, make sure you pay a visit to our showrooms in Noosa or Warana and explore our wide range of quality furniture, homewares, accessories and more!
